Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are open sores or ulcers on the feet that can occur in people with diabetes as a result of peripheral neuropathy, or damage to the nerves, and can severely compromise a patient’s quality of life.

This patient presented a highly challenging case as he had been suffering with an open diabetic foot ulcer with an exposed tendon for months after other advanced therapies failed. Upon being introduced to MimiClon’s MatriStem products, his physician applied MatriStem® Wound Matrix to the DFU. Four weeks later, the patient showed a healthy tissue bed over the closing wound. At six weeks after initial application, the patient achieved complete wound closure.
